An overview of the best candle inserts for every season
Regardless of the season, the graves of our loved ones are eagerly visited. Choosing a nice-looking grave candle is only half the battle. The purchase should also be considered in terms of the type of insert that will later be burned.
The most important factor that determines the choice of insert is the season. Then you should pay attention to the temperature - it affects the combustion time. It may be shortened in summer and extended in autumn and winter.
The most popular types and properties of inserts
There are three types of candle inserts. These are paraffin , oil and wax inserts. The most popular choice among consumers are paraffin cartridges. They work well during any season. However, the best time to buy them is summer, because they are resistant to high temperatures. In winter, their burning time may be shorter only at extremely low temperatures. The prices of paraffin inserts are lower than others and start from just over PLN 1 each. A key feature of paraffin cartridges that you can also pay attention to is the fact that they do not crumble during storage.
In turn, oil cartridges are more resistant to frost than paraffin cartridges. Typically, an oil cartridge burns up to 25% longer than one made of paraffin. Paraffin granules combined with a mixture of vegetable fats result in a combustion time of several dozen hours. The price of oil cartridges is high and can reach up to PLN 10 per piece.
Wax inserts are becoming an increasingly rare type of insert among consumers and are slowly being replaced from the market by better quality ones. These inserts come in the form of open candles in a clay pot. Their burning time is very dependent on the prevailing weather conditions.
Other types of cartridges
There are also other types of inserts on the market, but they are less popular. These are ecological , long-flammable and petroleum cartridges. The first ones are made on the basis of palm fat, but it does not affect the burning time in any way. This is only a product for people who consciously want to contribute to environmental protection. Prices per piece vary similarly to oil cartridges.
Long-flame inserts , as the name suggests, can burn for several days. This information can be found on products made of paraffin and oil mixtures. This type of inserts is a good solution if the candle is to illuminate the grave for a long time.
Another type are kerosene inserts , which will not damage the monument because they can burn on tombstones made of granite and marble. Characteristic features of these inserts are resistance to weather conditions and long-lasting flame.
New in the way of "burning"
Inserts with LED diodes that imitate real fire are also becoming more and more popular. Depending on the manufacturer, such an insert may be powered by replaceable batteries. Such a cartridge will certainly burn the longest of the above-mentioned ones, but you should remember about the electronics, which, unfortunately, may disappoint aesthetic expectations or simply break down. A big advantage is its resistance to all seasons. Prices per piece range from PLN 4 to PLN 10.
What to remember when buying a cartridge?
The larger the candle is to be placed on the grave, the better it would have a insert with a long burning time inside. It should also not protrude beyond the torch and should not burn its cover. We recommend that it is not too small and does not wobble. Please remember that the burnt insert can be successively replaced with a new one without losing the nice decoration.
